Separator SPECIALIST SERVICES

On-Site Diagnostics & Pre-Purchase Surveys

Two of the highest-leverage services we offer — both designed to save you weeks of waiting and thousands in surprises.

Diagnostic Service

On-Site Marine Inspection

Something not running right? Our certified marine technician comes to your boat — at your dock, marina, driveway, or storage facility — and performs a complete diagnostic to find the problem and recommend a fix. No trailering. No three-week wait at a shop.

What's included:

  • Visual inspection of engine, fuel system, electrical, and drive
  • Test run and operational check
  • Compression and spark testing as needed
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of any reported symptoms
  • Written diagnostic report with findings, photos, and repair estimate

Quick fixes included: If your issue turns out to be something simple our mechanic can resolve on the spot — loose connection, fouled plug, blown fuse — within the diagnostic window, we'll just take care of it. No upsell. No extra charge.

Pre-Purchase Engine Survey

Know what you're buying.

Buying a used boat? Don't take the seller's word for it. Our certified marine technician comes to the boat — wherever it's listed — and performs a comprehensive engine evaluation so you know exactly what you're buying before you write the check.

What's included (per engine):

  • Compression test on all cylinders
  • Oil and lower unit fluid inspection (visual; sample on request)
  • Engine hours verification against ECM or hour meter
  • Powerhead, lower unit, fuel system, and electrical inspection
  • Cooling system check (telltale flow, thermostat operation)
  • Cold start, idle quality, and dockside load test through the operating RPM range
  • Throttle response and shift engagement check
  • Written survey report with findings, photos, and condition rating — yours to keep and share with your insurer, lender, or seller

Note on sea trials: Sea trials aren't included. We recommend you conduct your own sea trial separately to evaluate handling, planing, and top-end performance. Your survey report tells you whether the engine is mechanically sound enough to attempt one safely.
